Francis is an Electrical Engineering major at the University of Texas at Austin, and has been known around the internet as Mekryd and, more recently, as Reilaos. He has interests in programming, game development, reading/writing, artistry, web development, and video gaming. It's a shame that he isn't particularly good at any of them.
This website is a project to get Francis acquainted with the basics of PHP and MySQL as well as try to instill within him good design practices and general good taste. As a convenient side effect, it also gives him a place to showcase his creative output (as well as serve as such a creative outlet itself).
The basic philosophy of the site is to allow the visitor to navigate the site with as much ease as possible- you can get to any part of the website from any other part of the website in no more than three clicks. At the same time, I would try not to overload the user with complex menus. Javascript and other client-side work is kept to a minimum (the only Javascript used is for the advertisements and for Internet Explorer to do the menu's right), and everything must meet the coding standards for HTML 4.01 Strict and CSS 2. So far, so good.
